Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year. Attached you will find the syllabus for 7th/8th Science and Health which serve as a compass directing you from the beginning to the end of the course. The first few days of school we will cover the student handbook and classroom expectations. You can refer to this page for future updates. A copy of the syllabus will be sent home. Please review with your student and sign/return.

Students will be able to use interactive visualizations to explore how light energy is transformed into chemical energy and stored in glucose during photosynthesis.

Students will work in groups and plant either squash, radishes, marigolds, or peas and wait for germination to begin experiment.

Photosynthesis - Analyzing Data (Day 3)

 

Big Idea Plants make their own food.  

 

 Students will be looking at evidence of photosynthesis by analyzing and drawing conclusions from the work of other scientists. Although we will not be performing the experiment ourselves, we will be able to make up our own minds by looking at their results. 


Students will work in groups of 2 and complete "Experimental Design Planning Sheet" and turn-in for a grade. If not complete, students may complete in class tomorrow. If you are absent, please see me to make-up this experiment/assignment.

SWBAT build a Rube Goldberg Machines (named after the cartoonist and inventor, Rube Goldberg) used to perform a simple task through many intricate processes.The goal is to make a working Rube Goldberg Machine capable of cracking/breaking an egg through a process of 8+ steps using at least 4 simple machines with a minimum of 4 energy transfers.

**class discussion: ALWAYS use your units!!!!!! Acceleration; pass back graded assignments; participation grade today; vocabulary assignments?????
