All students are working on their first Focused Writing Piece in Science. The following timeline is used to help keep students on track. Because we are dedicating all in-class time to this assignment, I will not accept pieces after the due date (with the exception of illnesses and absences).

7th Grade Timeline
Thursday (9-8): Pick a famous scientist and begin the research guide that is in the packet.
Friday (9-9): Finish Research guide and be ready to write your rough draft on Monday (9-12). In class we discussed plagiarism and I modeled how copying and pasting from an internet source is not considered your work (even if you change words in the sentence or use synonyms).
Monday (9-12): Students have all of class time to work on the rough draft of their papers. I modeled how to correctly format papers in MLA format.
Tuesday (9-13): Papers were peer reviewed and edited. The rest of class time is used to edit and prepare a final draft.
Thursday (9-15): Focused Writing Piece 1 is due at the beginning of class. All students will submit their pieces to their block's Google Classroom.
