Service Learning Field Trip on 2/16

posted Feb 7, 2018, 7:55 AM by Jackie Klein

On Friday, February 16th, from 11:30-2:30,  the 7th and 8th graders will be participating in a service learning field trip at the Budweiser Event Center.  We will be participating in the annual Slammin' Famine event that packs foods and sends them to malnourished people across the world.  If you would like more information, please go to their website: http://slamminfamine.org/.

On Thursday, 2/15 we will have a reward day for the middle school during their encore time. Students will be able to choose different activities, such as board games, reading, and games in the gym.   8th graders will also be raising money during this time.   Students will be able to purchase food, smoothies, bracelets and other items. Also, they can donate spare changes to the jar in Mrs. Easton's room.  All proceeds will be donated to Feed My Starving Children. The money will go a long way in helping those people in malnourished countries: $80 feeds a child for an entire year, $365 feeds an entire family for an entire year.

Permission slips were sent home on Monday and need to be returned to your child's advisory teacher by February 14.  There is a $3.00 fee to cover the buses and students will need to bring a sack lunch that day.  Sack lunches can be ordered through the cafeteria.

Please note that there will be no alternate activity for the field trip.  If your student will not be attending, parents will need to sign their students at the front office by 11:00 am.

We need to a few parents to help supervise student sales on Thursday, 2/15 from 1:00-3:15.  If you are registered with the VITAL system and are available to help, please email Mrs. Easton at leaston@nvcs.school.

Using experiential theater-based games and exercises, participants are encouraged to explore their specific conflicts and how they can come up with and practice positive strategies to help. Designed to address Colorado Academic Standards, each workshop includes a writing activity, multimedia, and physical and verbal expression to engage every type of learner."
