Since we have been back from winter break, we have noticed an increase in the number of student tardies to class. This includes arriving several minutes after class has started and not having all their materials. Students miss valuable learning opportunities when they are late, or not prepared. We wanted to remind parents of the tardy policy that was listed in the Middle School Handbook. The policy is as follows:
Starting next Wednesday, 2/1, we will begin holding lunch detentions for those students who have 5 tardies in the previous week. Students that are required to attend will be given slips on Tuesday that require a parent signature. On Wednesdays, students will get their lunch and report to Mrs. Balster's room for the entire lunch and recess time. If students miss detention, they will be expected to serve it the following Wednesday. We are confident this will remind students of the need to use their passing periods wisely, get to class on time, and have all the materials needed to be successful.
Students will be taking the iReady tests on Wednesday and Thursday this week. On those days, students will need to have headphones with them. Please check with your student to ensure that they have them at school on those days. We appreciate your support!
MVHS Lisa applications are due, Thursday 12/1/16.
8th Graders, please have your parents let Mrs. Jobman know where you will be attending high school before you leave for Winter Break. This can be done in person or by email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
On Tuesday, November 1st, from 12:45-3:15, the middle school will have a field day to celebrate the end of the first trimester. We will be leaving campus and walking to Loveland Sports Park to play capture the flag and other games. We will be returning to school for driveline by 3:15. Permission slips need to be returned to the student's advisory teacher by the end of the day on Monday, October 31st. We are also needing some help with chaperoning and bringing snacks. If you are available, please click the sign-up genius link:
On Thursday, October 27th from 9:20-10:10 am, the Middle School will have a social awareness assembly presented by the Harrington Arts Alliance addressing the topic of bullying. This is to encourage appropriate and positive behavior across the building. Please talk to your student about this and encourage them to make positive choices with their peers and set appropriate boundaries with others.
7th and 8th graders are allowed to wear costumes to school on October 31st, providing those costumes meet these requirements:
Our first middle school dance will be on Friday, November 4th at the Harrington Arts Alliance (575 N Denver Avenue) from 7:00-9:00 pm. The cost is $5.00. To be eligible to attend the dance, students need to meet the following requirements:
